By 2050, plastic will likely outweigh all fish in the sea. To combat this, Rewrite is changing up one of our biggest polluters: the stationery industry. Working with cleanup programs across Southeast Asia, each of their pens are crafted entirely from recycled ocean plastic. By removing, recycling and reusing discarded waste, they’re helping give plastics a new life.

The visual identity is centred around the idea of flow state, and the balance between focus and momentum it creates. The flowing, gestural shape of the ‘W’ was a gift, speaking to both the visual language of the ocean and the iterative nature of creativity. The system captures the coming together of people, process, product and place in an effort to represent the interconnectedness and flow between humankind and nature.

To bring Rewrite’s voice to life, playfulness and storytelling was injected into a brand to grapple with big issues. What if thrown-out plastic had a story, and felt bad about what it had done?

We've helped these pollutants rewrite their story, and turn waste into words. Now? You can write your own.
